Privacy Policy

WordSpy is built to be played — not to collect your data. This policy explains clearly and honestly what information the app uses, why, and how it's protected.

WordSpy does not collect personally identifiable information. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or location.

The app may collect the following anonymous, non-identifiable data to improve gameplay:

• Anonymous usage events (e.g. game started, round completed, pack selected) via Mixpanel analytics
• Device type and operating system version — used only in aggregate, never tied to an identity
• App crash reports to identify and fix bugs

This data cannot be used to identify you as an individual.

WordSpy stores the following data locally on your device using encrypted on-device storage (MMKV):

• Your game settings and preferences (timer duration, language, haptics, etc.)
• Game history and results
• Unlocked content flags (e.g. After Dark pack access)

This data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to our servers. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data.

WordSpy uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

• Mixpanel — anonymous usage analytics. View their policy at mixpanel.com/legal/privacy-policy
• Expo / EAS — powers over-the-air updates and crash reporting. View their policy at expo.dev/privacy
• RevenueCat — processes in-app purchases and manages subscription entitlements. RevenueCat receives purchase receipt data from Apple/Google to verify transactions. They do not receive your name, email, or payment card details. View their policy at revenuecat.com/privacy
• Apple App Store / Google Play — handles payment processing for premium word packs. We do not receive or store your payment card details. All payment data is managed exclusively by Apple or Google under their own privacy policies.

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third party for advertising purposes.

WordSpy offers optional premium word packs as in-app purchases. When you make a purchase:

• Payment is processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store) — we never see your payment information
• A purchase receipt is shared with RevenueCat to verify your entitlement and unlock purchased content on your device
• Your purchase status (which packs you own) is stored locally on your device and checked against RevenueCat's entitlement service
• RevenueCat may associate an anonymous identifier with your purchase history to support the "Restore Purchases" feature across devices

No purchase data is used for advertising or sold to third parties.

WordSpy is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect any data from children under 13.

The After Dark word pack contains mature content and is locked behind a settings toggle by default. It is intended for adult players only.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used the app, please note that no personal data is collected at any time.

Since WordSpy stores all data locally on your device, you are in full control:

• Clear app data at any time through your device's settings
• Uninstall the app to remove all locally stored data permanently
• Anonymous analytics events sent to Mixpanel are retained per Mixpanel's standard data retention policy

We take the security of your data seriously. All locally stored data is encrypted using MMKV's on-device encryption. Any analytics data transmitted to third parties is sent over HTTPS encrypted connections.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as the app evolves. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.

Continued use of WordSpy after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
